Mike Fiers was on the mound for the ‘Stros, while the player he came over with from the Brewers at this year’s deadline, center fielder Carlos Gomez, remains out with a left intercostal strain — the season quickly slipping away from him.
Meanwhile, righty Nick Tropeano and catcher Carlos Perez made up the starting battery for the Angels — the two players the Astros gave up to acquire catcher Hank Conger early last offseason.
